PROJECT ENGINEER

There is currently an opening for an Project Engineer with prior experience leading a team of 2-5 test engineers in the successful planning and execution of R/D and production manufacturing of microwave and millimeter wave integrated assemblies, incorporating active and passive RF components, including amplifiers, switches, filters, attenuators, oscillators and up and down frequency converters. We are looking for someone who possesses all the skills and qualifications of a test engineer (see AKON job posting for Test Engineer) with the additional aptitude and/or proven ability to lead others in meeting the budgetary, scheduling and customer program requirements driving the program.

Thus, in addition to having a total understanding of the technical details of the microwave and millimeter assembly, mil-spec test procedures and other traditional product engineering activities the project engineer will have ownership of and will set, report and meet yield targets that are consistent with the goals and strategic direction of the company.

Bachelors degree required. Prior experience inspecting RF/microwave components (amplifiers, filters, oscillators, etc.) and integrated multi-functional assemblies on hybrid MICs also required. Experience interfacing with senior management across multiple departments is essential. Must also be able to work independently and have good communication skills; also must have demonstrated ability to report status to customers and management.

MECHANICAL ENGINEER

Akon is hiring Mechanical Engineers. Some duties include: performing engineering analysis including finite element analysis for new and existing designs to meet customer performance, weight, cost, thermal, structural and vibration analysis as well as compliance with design requirements. Responsible for designing component level microwave modules and subsystems. Conduct circuit layout using 2D draft software and mechanical design using 3D software tools. Responsible for the development of engineering drawings including plans and specifications based on analysis, etc.

Masters Degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering

QUALITY ENGINEER

AKON, Inc., has a current requirement for an experienced Quality Engineer. The successful applicant will have a strong interest in working in an RF/microwave design and development environment designing microwave components, (amplifiers, filters, oscillators, etc.) and integrated multi-functional assemblies.

The primary responsibilities of the Quality Engineers will be to administer the company’s quality program accordance with customer and company requirements, establish procedures for maintaining high standards of quality, organize and promote company wide quality improvement efforts, evaluate and develop improved techniques for the control of AKON’s product quality and reliability, supervise quality assurance specialists and inspectors, act as liaison with customers and other external parties on matters relating to the company’s quality system

Bachelors degree required. Prior experience inspecting RF/microwave components (amplifiers, filters, oscillators, etc.) and integrated multi-functional assemblies on hybrid MICs also required. Experience interfacing with Aerospace Prime Contractor Quality Systems and active DoD security clearance are also highly desirable.

TEST ENGINEER

AKON, Inc. currently has an opening for an electrical engineer (BSEE) with 2-5 years experience designing, tuning, aligning and testing microwave and millimeter wave integrated assemblies, incorporating active and passive RF components, including amplifiers, switches, filters, attenuators, oscillators and up and down frequency converters. We are looking for someone with proficiency in both analog and digital control circuitry for use in integrated microwave assemblies, and who can use microwave test equipment such as scalar and vector network analyzers, signal generators, spectrum analyzers, noise figure and power meters to test for and make measurements of such parameters as, for example, small signal gain, VSWR, noise figure, 1 dB compression point, spurious products, phase noise, and group delay measurements. Good hand skills, microscope skills, and ability to troubleshoot chip and wire microwave integrated assemblies in a clean room environment is essential. Must also be able to work independently, have good communication skills and demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and report status to customers and management.
